BIT Program Successfully Launched at Horizon Campus
The Bachelor of Information Technology External Degree (BIT) Program of the University of Moratuwa was successfully launched at the Horizon Campus, Malabe, on the 5th of March 2017, amongst a representative gathering of academics, students, parents, and well-wishers. Indeed, it was a milestone for Horizon, teaming up with an esteemed local university for the first time, in the University of Moratuwa. Horizon Campus is in fact only the second partner organization in Sri Lanka to conduct lectures for the BIT program.

The Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) of the Faculty of Information Technology (IT) of the University of Moratuwa coordinates the delivery of this study program. The Faculty of IT was established in 2001 as the Third (and indeed the youngest) Faculty of the University of Moratuwa. This momentous partnership with Horizon Campus therefore is aimed at creating a IT oasis, a fertile grooming environment for budding young IT professionals. Indeed, the principle objective is to progress and promote flexible and open learning techniques within a more conventional knowledge dissemination infrastructure.

The IT professional finds himself in a unique niche. He is indeed the most sought after professional in industry; essentially even superceding the demand for medical personnel. In fact, it is known that IT graduant earns a bigger starting salary than any other graduate from any other discipline, worldwide. Hence, youth worldwide have developed a tremendous eagerness and hunger to acquire the latest cutting-edge IT skills and experience. A career path in IT has proved to be enriching, rewarding, longstanding, and lucrative, whether it be in academia or in industry.

Undoubtedly, the new batch of BIT students have made an excellent choice in selecting IT has their chosen career path, and Horizon Campus as the delivery partner, a decision which they will never regret. Indeed, this BIT degree without doubt will be the launching pad for greater things to come in their respective careers and lives.
