Professional Recognition

Horizon Campus, has gained the required recognition and accreditations by the Ministry of Higher Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC), respectively. Furthermore, Horizon Campus and Nilai University are both Members of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

Diplomats of this programme are recognized to enter into a relevant degree programme at Nilai University or reputable partner universities (including reputed universities in Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand) in areas of genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular microbiology, biotechnology and biomedical science.

Career Opportunities

The career options are expanding rapidly for Biotechnologists. Advances in genetic engineering, protein engineering, cell culture and molecular biology have generated a virtually unlimited potential for altering the capabilities of living systems, greatly expanding the scope of biotechnology, generating new applications for biological products and allowing a previously unprecedented ability to control life processes.

Related Careers :

  • Agricultural, environmental, chemical, food processing, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and waste management industries
  • Beverage and food production
  • Biotechnology, medical and agricultural industries
  • Government and research establishments
  • In a range of public and private diagnostic, therapeutic and research laboratories covering microbiology, hematology, bioremediation, immunology, forensic science, crop development, pest control, animal production, veterinary services, molecular biology and protein engineering
  • Medical and veterinary science service industries
  • Intellectual Property
  • Suppliers to the Biotechnology Industry

The multi-disciplinary character of Biotechnology provides promising opportunities in research and development, quality control and regulation, clinical research, manufacturing and production, marketing and sales, information systems, academic field, administration as well as entrepreneurship. It encompasses an ever-growing range of techniques for the alteration and manipulation of molecules, genes and cells and often involves the harnessing of biological processes for a particular purpose. The biotechnology industry is based on the commercial exploitation of these techniques.

Internships

Horizon Campus encourage and assist the diploma students to participate in high-quality internships to gain valuable professional experience in their chosen area. Collaborating with companies and organizations in a variety of sectors builds students’ professional connections and gives them a competitive advantage in terms of their future employment.

The type of internships that students participate in vary; from working in companies and organizations, to doing research projects and working with a professor. The internship will be conducted at the final semester of the programme for a duration of 4-6 months.
