Message From The Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Information Technology (IT) of the Horizon Campus. I am pleased to witness that many undergraduate students pursue their tertiary studies in Information Technology, one of the most diverse and appealing fields of the 21st century. Information Technology is a field that has penetrated into all other fields, be it Government or Private services, Finance, Agriculture, Energy, Education, Electronics, Telecommunication, Medicine, Archaeology, Transportation, Logistics, Military, and the disciplines continue. Therefore, the present demand for the IT Professionals is on the rise in diverse areas, both locally and globally.

As Information Technology is an academic stream that needs focusing on concepts, theories, skills and applications, we at the Faculty of Information Technology endeavours to equip the IT students to build their capacity to make innovative and productive contributions, in any career path that they venture into. In addition, we optimise measures to facilitate the IT students in a learning curve to develop their capacity to address the needs within organizational and societal contexts through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of Information Technology.

At present, to cater to such requirements, we offer several Degree and Diploma programmes. Among them are: B.Sc. (Honours) in Information Technology, BIT (Honours) in Network & Mobile Computing, B.Sc. (Honours) in Data Science, Pearson BTEC International L3 Foundation Diploma in Information Technology, and Diploma in Information Technology (Latrobe), enabling our students to venture into career paths in their preferred IT areas, on the successful completion of the respective degree programmes. We do trust that establishing a skilled computing workforce is essential to the long-term economic stability of the country. We continue to improve these degree programmes based on the feedback received from industry as well as other academia, while introducing new programmes as per the predicted demands within our areas of expertise.

At Horizon Campus, we endeavour to provide a modern teaching and learning atmosphere that includes a state-of-the-art Virtual Learning Environment as well as a conducive physical environment, in which students and lecturers interact and engage in a continuous learning process.
