He further explained that the Bachelor of Information Technology in Network and Mobile Computing degree is focused on the technical and administrative skills required to create and use computer networks for a range of different purposes. Topics covered will include security, multimedia, programming languages, system architecture, network administration, project management, databases, and much more.
Dr. Amal Rajapakse said that the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology has a strong focus on industry projects, giving students the chance to develop software programs. They will also gain skills in project management, project estimation, documentation and report evaluation through the theoretical side of these core subjects. The curriculum will include web and software development, IT systems analysis, design, and programming. In these classes students will develop an understanding of infrastructure technology, planning and management and develop ways to understand systems and how to implement technical programs, and data systems.
He added that upon completion of the degrees, students will also have the opportunity to pursue post graduate study (Masters, PhD) in Information Technology, pursue post-graduate research in IT and even pursue for entrepreneurship in the Computing or Information Technology arena.
