The Faculty of Technology was established in 2018, to cater to the increasing demands of technology education at undergraduate level created in the country especially due to the newly formed “Technology Stream” via local and international Advanced Level curricula. The faculty plans to be an internationally recognized centre of excellence aligning with the changing technological needs in society through teaching, research and knowledge sharing. The students will be exposed to advanced technologies in Bio systems Engineering and Engineering Technologies and assisted to become technology professionals and innovators through multi and inter-disciplinary training and research exposure.
The faculty has all the necessary facilities, including laboratories, workshops, libraries, reading rooms, Wi-Fi facilities and lecture halls, etc. The Faculty of Technology facilitates learners to be critical thinkers, innovators and productive contributors and change agents who can compete with global challenges. The Technology Education process consists of three major components such as Science and Technology, Application and Innovation and Value Addition through Value Chain Management. Such theoretical and practical knowhow and expertise would inspire the next generation to meet the challenges resulting from socio-economic and industrial demands of the world.
Around 440 students have completed BSc Hons Quantity Surveying (Top-Up) Degree and over hundred students presently continue in successful career paths in this field. Master’s programmes in Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying have been launched since January 2022. Over seventy (70) students with various academic and professional backgrounds are currently following the courses. All the above courses are conducted in collaboration with Birmingham City University (BCU).

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Faculty of Technology of the Horizon Campus. Our young dynamic Faculty was established in 2018 and it provides education and training with high quality standard not only to the local students but also to many foreign students. Our academic activities are not limited to providing nationally approved local degree programmes but they also include many collaborative degree programmes conducted in affiliation with several internationally reputed universities both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our highly qualified and well-experienced academic staff have strong commitments to education and research necessary to fulfil the target of producing highly knowledgeable, creative and competent new generation of professionals to the challenging world.
The Faculty consists of two major study divisions, Bio System Technology and Engineering Technology, with state of the art faculties for practical training and research based activities. the faculty offers Engineering Technology and Non-Engineering Technology programs which are accredited and recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. All international programmes are locally recognized and internationally accredited by relevant authorities.
In addition to equipping the students with capabilities in advanced scientific knowledge and technological know-how, our primary target is to prepare them to the world with work-based competencies, strong communication skills, work-based learning skills, time management skills, team skills, problem solving skills and other innovative skills. We promote our students through Work Based Learning-Industrial Technology Training Hub (WBL-ITTH) to liaise with the industrial network in order to build up their future work place adaptability skills.
