The Finals of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition 2024 organized by the Young Scientists Association (YSA) of the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS) Kandy was held on 9th of July 2024 at the Cyril Ponnamperuma Auditorium of the NIFS. Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a research communication competition developed by the University of Queensland. The preliminary round was held on 13th June 2024 and from 50+ competitors, 10 were selected for the finals. Ms. Nethmi Perera undergraduate of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science proudly secured a spot as a finalist, being the only non-state university student among the 3- Minute Thesis (3MT) finalists. She was guided by her research supervisor, Ms. Danushika Nayomi, a lecturer at Faculty of Science, Horizon Campus. The competition provided a platform for Sri Lanka's aspiring scientists to develop presentation skills and the ability to communicate research findings effectively to a general audience.
